1935 - 2005: 70 years SCHWEIGHOFER & ZÖHRER
In the year 1935 Franz Schweighofer established together with his wife Johanna, born Zöhrer, the company in Salzburg. With their first coach they managed the bus line between Salzburg and a small village in the lake district, called Ebenau.
The brother of Mrs. Schweighofer, Josef Zöhrer was a mechanic. The spirit of adventure let him emigrated 1950 to Canada, where he built up his own car repair shop.
1960 Mr. Schweighofer died, Johanna asked his brother Josef to come back to Austria to overtake the company. Josef Zöhrer returned to Austria in 1962 and managed the company from that time on.
Johanna Schweighofer retired in 1974 and Josef Zöhrer junior joined the company and is still managing it since that time together with his brothers Gerhard and Ernst Zöhrer. SCHWEIGHOFER & ZÖHRER at its first head quarter in the "Vogelweider Straße" (picture above) was soon well known as a competent partner for all kinds of bus travelling and transfers. In 1972 the company was the first Salzburg based bus company operating an air conditioned bus, followed by the first bus in Salzburg with toilet in 1977. In the 90ies the company moved to a new location where office and bus parking area are closed to each other. And in 2006 we merged our office with the bus parking area. Gerhard and Ernst Zöhrer take care about maintenance of our buses in our own workshop
